How to Use a Happy Life Folio: Creative Planning & Journaling Ideas

Creative ways to use your folio

Your Happy Life Folio is designed to hold more than plans—it’s a space to organize, create, reflect, document, and make completely your own. Whether you’re keeping track of a busy schedule, capturing favorite memories, digging deeper into your faith, or simply giving yourself room to create, there are so many ways to make your folio fit your life.

Need a little inspiration? We asked a few of our Happy Planner Brand Ambassadors to show us how they’re using their Happy Life Folios. From functional planning and faith journaling to junk journaling and memory-keeping, take a peek inside their pages and discover new ways to make your Happy Life Folio uniquely yours.

FINDING BALANCE

By Katie Holyfield (@fake.it.til.ya.make.it)

Finding balance between work and play isn’t always easy, but my Happy Life Folio has truly become the place where both parts of my life come together. I use my monthly spread as a functional brain dump for everything from work schedules, tasks, birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, and appointments to all the little moments life throws my way, and adding Happy Planner stickers makes staying organized feel creative and inspiring. As a home health nurse practitioner, I love how portable it is because I can take it with me wherever my day leads, and when it’s time to unwind, the journal section becomes my creative escape where I can junk journal, art journal, and create freely using plain old junk mail, magazine cutouts, and my favorite Happy Planner letter stickers to turn everyday pieces into something uniquely mine.

FAITH IN MY FOLIO

By Kenya Patterson (@kenyadoll_plans)

The Happy Life Folio isn't just for daily organizing. It makes the absolute ultimate faith journal and Bible study notebook! For this spread, I transformed four pages inside the folio into an interactive S.O.A.P. / verse mapping session centered on Proverbs 3:5-6, showing how versatile this notebook can be for your quiet time. For an extra creative design, I used my Gyro-Cut tool across the center crease of pages two and three to create three 3D pop-up heart flaps filled with supporting scriptures. I styled my bordering pages with beautiful stickers from Happy Planner’s Rise and Align, French Papers, and 5-sheet floral sticker packs.

JUNK JOURNAL LIFE

By Michelle McCollum (@plan_on_it)

Junk journaling in my Happy Life Folio has quickly become one of my favorite creative escapes, especially after a recent trip that left me with so many little memories I didn’t want to throw away. I love collecting everything along the way—receipts from coffee shops, ticket stubs, brochures, and printed photos—and turning them into meaningful pages that tell the story of where I’ve been. The folio is perfect for this because it’s not just functional for everyday planning, but also gives me a dedicated space to be fully creative and expressive. I especially love incorporating Happy Planner letter stickers to label places, dates, and little captions that bring everything together in a fun, cohesive way. It’s become more than just memory-keeping—it’s a way to relive my travels while turning everyday scraps into something beautiful and personal.

ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE

By Ritchelle Imperial (@simply.chellie)

Organize your life

I like keeping my monthly spread clean and functional, so I color-code my calendar for work, socials, appointments, bills, and important dates to easily see everything at a glance. I finished it off with functional icon stickers, a small monthly goals section, and a few decorative touches to add a little personality while keeping the layout practical.

Document your life

For this journal spread, I wanted to document some of my favorite little moments, so I started by layering scrapbook paper stickers and photos before building around them with decorative stickers. I focused on creating a cozy, memory-filled layout with lots of texture and personality.
