HOW TO USE CHECKLISTS FOR EFFECTIVE PLANNING

Love a checklist? Us too! You might say it’s the first step in successful planning. Some of the most amazing plans start with a simple list. Writing out your to-dos in priority order can help take the stress out of the most overwhelming errands or big occasions.

There’s no limit to the types of checklists you can make: household chore checklists, event planning checklists, wedding planning checklists, baby shower planning checklists, trip planning checklists... the list goes on! Let’s take a look at a few ways you can use our checklist planners, stickers, and accessories to maximize your planning potential!

Use Checklists to Track and Build New Habits

Been wanting to improve your habits at home or in your daily routine? Create a custom habit tracker with your favorite planner and sticker pack. Your habit tracker can start out as something as simple as a notebook. Many of our products, like our Classic Ditsies Classic Guided Mood Journal have built-in trackers for areas like self-care and moods.

You can even build a habit-tracking journal from the ground up with one of our notebooks. Add our Check It Off Value Pack Stickers to the blank pages and customize your trackers to a specific goal or focus. Maybe you’re wanting to up your daily water intake, read more, work out, or just remember to take care of basic household chores... create something tailored to you.

Define Your Workflow With a Checklist

Establish a workable flow in the office or at home with a list that gets it all together. The best part is... we have an entire line dedicated to making your professional planning simpler and streamlined. Create a project checklist with our Work + Life Sage Linen + Cork Notepad Folder and Work + Life Metropolitan Foil Sticker Fan Book. Use the foil stickers as bullet points you can mark off as you go.

Plan with Checklists

Create an overview everything that needs to be done on your end for your team to make your project happen:

  • Identify specific goals
  • Break them down into actionable items
  • Prioritize tasks
  • Delegate
  • Monitor and track progress
  • Celebrate when it’s all done!

Each project can be broken down into its own separate checklist and creating one for yourself is a great place to start and will act as a template for every other task that needs to be done to make the bigger picture come to life! Our Line It Up Check It Off Classic Stencil is a great tool for crafting the perfect set of checklists.

Plan the Perfect Occasion With an Event Planning Checklist

Are you the person who’s always thinking of something fun to do? Maybe you’re not, but you’d like to be! We can help you start from wherever you’re at. Whenever you're thinking about planning an event, there’s always important aspects to keep in mind. Naturally, we recommend using any of our checklist layout planners. The checklist layout is an enhanced version of our vertical layout with built-in blank checklists to use however you need.

For planning your event, keep it simple by using what’s commonly known as a “backwards timeline.” Start with the day of the event and work your way back. Some important elements to consider when creating your timeline are:

  • Space/venue reservation
  • Food/catering services
  • Drinks/beverages
  • Decorations
  • Entertainment
  • Guest invitations/RSVPs

Use the vertical box spaces and the included checklists to figure out what you need to complete each day to make it to your grand finale!

It’s an understatement to say we think checklists are just “ok.” They’re a way of life for us planners! We hope these tips have helped you consider new ways to create an effective to-do list. If you have any other ways a checklist has helped you tackle your plans, share them with us on social @the_happy_planner

Happy Planning!
