Frightfully Fun Halloween Recipes

We’re cackling with excitement this season! As we’re picking out our costumes and filling our calendars with fall activities, we’re conjuring up some ghoulish recipe ideas for you to try! And because we know the closer it gets to the big haunt, the less time there is, we’re keeping it simple.

Use these easy Halloween recipes for a party or a fun activity to do with the kiddos or your friend group. And, of course, we recommend using our NEW collection of recipe journals to save your faves for the future!

SPIDER WEB PRETZELS

This one is the best combination of super easy, super cute, and full of Halloween spirit! Save this one in the “Quick + Easy” section of your Sweets + Baking Classic Recipe Journal and get ready for a sweet, seasonal treat. You can even get a little creative and add your own spectral twists!

Ingredients
Candy melts, white and black
Sprinkles
Mini pretzel sticks

Step 1

Melt your candy melts in separate bowls according to the package. Place melted chocolate in a cake decorating with a #2 tip or a lunch bag with the tip cut off.

Step 2

Place pretzels in a star shape on a Silpat or piece of parchment paper and squeeze melted chocolate on top of the pretzels in a web-like shape. Add sprinkles if desired. Pop in refrigerator until chocolate hardens, approximately 5 minutes.

Step 3

Using the black chocolate, free hand a couple chocolate spiders on a piece of parchment paper or Silpat. Cool in refrigerator until chocolate hardens. Place a small dot of melted chocolate on the back on the spider and stick to the spider web.

HALLOWEEN GRAVEYARD CUPCAKES

These spooky cupcakes are packed with flavor and fright! With chocolate cake, crushed cookie “soil,” and buttercream “grass,” they’re a festive, delicious way to celebrate Halloween. Save this recipe in the "Seasonal Treats" section of your Sweets + Baking Classic Recipe Journal and let the haunting begin!

Ingredients

Biscuit Graves
  • 12 Lotus Biscoff biscuits
  • 150 g dark chocolate, melted
  • 30 g white chocolate, melted
Cupcakes
  • 175 g butter (unsalted)
  • 175 g caster sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 150 g self-raising flour
  • 25 g cocoa powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
Chocolate Buttercream
  • 100 g unsalted butter
  • 165 g icing sugar
  • 35 g cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tsp milk
Green Grass Buttercream
  • 25 g unsalted butter
  • 50 g icing sugar
  • ⅛ tsp vanilla extract
  • Green food coloring
Oreo Soil
  • 35 g crushed Oreos
Step 1

Make the Biscuit Graves by snapping off about ⅓ of each Biscoff biscuit to create gravestones. Dip the biscuits in melted dark chocolate and let them set on baking paper. Pipe white chocolate designs on the graves and allow them to harden.

Step 2

Preheat the oven to 160°C (325°F) and line a cupcake tin. Beat the butter and sugar for 5 minutes. Add eggs and milk, mixing well. Gently fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder. Divide the batter among the cupcake cases and bake for 25-30 minutes.

Step 3

For chocolate buttercream, beat the butter, icing sugar, and cocoa powder. Add milk for a smooth texture. For grass buttercream, mix butter and icing sugar, adding vanilla and green coloring.

Step 4

time to assemble the graveyard! First, spread chocolate buttercream on each cupcake. Then press a biscuit grave into each cupcake. Next, sprinkle Oreo soil around the gravestones (the messier the better so it looks like real dirt!). Finally, use a piping bag with a grass nozzle to add green buttercream around the grave.

You can store these treats in an airtight container and enjoy them within three days. These cupcakes will be the highlight of your Halloween!

BERRY EYEBALL PUNCH

And now for something borderline supernatural. You can make this concoction in both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions to save in the “Cocktails” section of your Wine + Spirits Classic Beverage + Wine Journal. Serve it up in spectral style at your next haunted soiree!

Ingredients
3 cups blackberries
18 canned lychees (from one 20-ounce can), plus 3/4 cup syrup from the can
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
2 cups sweetened acai juice
1 cup blueberry juice cocktail
18 large blueberries
3 cups lemon-lime soda
1 cup spiced rum or gin (optional)

Step 1

Puree the blackberries, lychee syrup and lemon juice in a blender. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing on the solids with a rubber spatula. Add the acai juice and blueberry juice. Refrigerate until chilled, at least 2 hours.

Step 2

Gently push a blueberry into the cavity of each lychee. Transfer the punch to a punch bowl or pitcher and add the stuffed lychees, then gently stir in the lemon-lime soda and rum, if using. Serve over ice.

MUMMY HOT DOGS

First up on our list is a tingling take on Pigs in a Blanket themed for Halloween! Save this on in the “Appetizer” section of your Savory Food Classic Recipe Journal for your next monster mash! The best part, you make them ahead of time and pop them in the freezer to save for a later. Heat them up in the oven whenever you’re ready!

Ingredients
1 (8-oz.) can Crescent dough
3 slices American cheese
12 hot dogs
2 Tbsp. melted butter
Dijon mustard

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375° and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Separate crescent dough into 4 rectangles, pinching together seams as necessary. Cut each rectangle lengthwise into thin strips.

Step 2

Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 strips.

Step 3

Place a hot dog on top of a piece of cheese, then wrap with crescent dough to look like bandages. (You’ll need about 4 pieces of crescent dough per hot dog.) Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Step 4

Place on prepared baking sheet and brush with melted butter.

Step 5

Bake until crescent dough is golden and cooked through, 12 to 15 minutes.

Step 6

Using a toothpick, dot mustard onto each hot dog to create eyes.
