April 7th is World Health Day! This marks the perfect time to think about your wellness and self-care routines. Last year we talked about focusing on your well-being by de-stressing. In 2023, the World Health Organization (WHO), creators of the holiday, is celebrating 75 years of improving public health. So, we’re looking at some ways you can improve your own. 😊
According to The Global Wellness Institute, wellness is “the active pursuit of activities, choices and lifestyles that lead to a holistic state of health.” And there are at least six areas of wellness that feed into your overall well-being. Let’s look at ways you can use Happy Planner tools for self-care to enhance your overall wellness in these areas!
1. PHYSICAL – Follow a movement/fitness routine.
In our blog about New Year’s goals, we talked about creating realistic fitness goals. Using movement “snacks” or low-intensity workouts as a starting point is a great way to get yourself on a realistic path to fitness. And having guidance always helps! Our Worth the Work Fitness Guided Journal aims to help you set those goals and accomplish anything you set your mind to. Track habits, meals, and make daily improvements!
2. ENVIRONMENTAL – Start a garden.
Foster the relationship between you and your natural surroundings! Put your personal patch of earth to good use and begin growing some simple plants. Maybe even try your hand at growing a kitchen garden and harvest your own foodstuff! It can even just be as simple as starting with potted plants in your home. Keep up with your watering and fertilization schedules with our Gardening Sticker Value Pack or Don’t Stop Growing Sticker Value Pack.
3. MENTAL – Do something creative.
Keeping your brain active is just as important as moving your body! Sharpen your intellect by learning something new or spark your creativity with a project. Break out your planner and make your spreads shine. Our Fitness & Wellness Mystery Bag is packed with tools to help you unleash your creativity. You can also get crafty with one of our kits. Our Abstract Punch Needle Kit offers a variation on embroidery that’s easy for those of intermediate skill levels!
4. SPIRITUAL – Reflect and meditate.
Center yourself and get in touch with your spiritual side. Whether it’s searching for meaning in the little things or a higher purpose, spirituality might look different for each person. One way of exploring your spirituality might be journaling or even picking up meditation as a habit. Our Faith Over Fear Guided Journal was created for those looking to record blessings and moments of faith in the everyday. It can be customized to fit whatever faith speaks to you. Use our Nature of Wellness Sticker Value Pack and make any journal about your own specific spiritual wellness path.
5. EMOTIONAL – Make time for you.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It’s important to stop and remember to make yourself a priority! Using our Pastel Florals Self-Care Gift Box Set is a great way to pamper and remind yourself that it’s okay to take a break from the daily grind. Use the sticker book to fill your layouts with prompts. The scratch off cards will give you exercises to help guide you! Check out our previous blog focused on our Stress Management Layout for a deeper dive on how to plan for unexpected (or expected) stressors in your daily life.
6. SOCIAL – Get involved in a community.
Whether it’s a quick meetup with your friends or phoning a family member, connecting and engaging with others is a meaningful element to wellness. If you’re new to the Happy Planner, you may not know a lot about our growing community. We love seeing ideas from other planners, crafters, and happiness-makers! Follow one of our many social channels on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, or Tik Tok! You can even get inspired with ideas on our Pinterest. If you’re someone who has great ideas you’d love to share with other planners, consider applying for our NEW Ambassador Program. Applications are open NOW!
We’re excited to see how you chart your path towards wellness this year! There’s no right or wrong way to do it, but we hope we gave you a good place to start or piqued your curiosity to try something new! If you take the plunge on any of the above ideas, give us a shout-out on social @the_happy_planner.
